Welcome to my e-Portfolio.

Introduction:

Hello, my name is Cheryl Mallan and I am a graduate student at University of Texas, Brownsville.  I am an instructor at San Antonio College (SAC) in San Antonio, Texas in the Administrative Computer Technology Department where I teach Introduction to Accounting, Advanced Medical Transcription, Advanced Computerized Accounting (Peachtree), Beginning Keyboarding, Eclipse Software for Court Reporting, Court Reporting Dictation and Speed Building, Keyboarding Skill-building, Proofreading at the Computer, and Ten-key.

I am currently the president of Texas Business and Technology Educators Association (TBTEA) Region 20; post-secondary vice president of TBTEA State; and TBTEA state scholarship committee chair.  My other professional memberships include:  Texas Community College Teachers Association, National Business Educators Association, and International Society of Business Education.

My course requirements were completed in December 2010 and I anticipate graduating from UTB with a Master's Degree in Educational Technology and a certificate in e-Learning in May 2011.  My career goal is to continue teaching at SAC and continue developing internet courses and an internet component in traditional courses within the department.  My capstone project will continue to be used within the court reporting division in my department as a vital component toward our move toward an on-line court reporting program.

Purpose of e-Portfolio:

The purpose of my UTB e-Portfolio is to showcase the courses I have taken and is part of my requirements for a Master's Degree in Educational Technology from the University of Texas at Brownsville . The e-Portfolio is created in lieu of the comprehensive examination for the Educational Technology program at UTB.  It is a collection of projects I have completed while pursuing my degree and shows progress and growth during this time.  It also shows achievement of the six professional responsibilities:  Leadership and Professional Development; Design; Development, Utilization, and Management; Evaluation; Research; and Collaboration.

e e-Portfolio Organization:

My e-Portfolio consists of the following sections:  home, reflection letter, matrix, capstone project, courses projects, contact me, POS and 18-hour review, and courses taken.  The home section includes an overall view of the e-Portfolio.  The reflection letter is a letter to the educational technology faculty reflecting lessons learned during my experiences during the program.  The matrix is an advanced organizer illustrating how each artifact I have chosen meets one or more professional responsibilities.  The capstone project was created during EDTC 6332 Practicum in Educational Technology and is currently being used at San Antonio College in the court reporting division.  Course projects includes at least one project from each of the courses taken at UTB.  Contact me includes personal email, school email, my business card, and a link to my home page at San Antonio College.  POS and 18-hour review are PDF files of both documents used to keep on track during my UTB experience.  Courses taken provides the course number, a brief description of the course, semester taken, and final grade.

To view my e-Portfolio, you may use Internet Explorer or Firefox.  You may also need to download Flash, uPlayer, and Windows Media Player to view some of my projects.  If the item is underlined, it is an active link.  If the link takes you to another web site, you should use the back button to get back to the previous page.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions through the contact me link.
